Epworth Firefighters Enroll in Firefighter 1 Class

The Epworth Fire Department's newest members have been attending the Firefighter 1 Course at the Dubuque County Firefighters Association Training Facility. Probationary members Mitchell Beyer and Kyle Knutson joined the ranks of the department in September of 2012 and have been busy attending classes, meetings and drills ever since. Once they complete the FF1 training and testing, they will become nationally certified Firefighter 1. The training facility course offers area departments the opportunity to send new recruits to the five month class that will cover all of the basic training they need to be active in a fire department. The course is sponsored through NICC and is coordinated by Epworth Fire Instructor Al Esch. Many area fire instructors also pitch in to help with the training classes that are held twice a week throughout the winter months.
