| The Epworth Community Fire Department was awarded a 2011 Dubuque Racing Association Grant that allowed for the purchase of a new power unit to operate the hydraulic extrication tools. The new unit will provide additional power and features and will replace a unit that has served for over ten years.
The $4,425.00 grant fully funded the power unit upgrade. The fire department also used proceeds from recent fund raisers and donations to upgrade the cutter unit which completes the project. This upgrade was needed to keep up with advancements in vehicle and farm machinery and will be used to free victims from car accidents and other entanglements. Including this grant, the Dubuque Racing Association has awarded over $48,600.00 to the Epworth Community Fire Department over the past ten years.
The ECFD is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation that oversees the rural operations of the department. The ECFD Board of Directors works closely with the City of Epworth Mayor and Council to provide fire and EMS service to the surrounding Epworth area. |
