Members of the Epworth, Centralia-Peosta and Key West Fire Departments conducted a joint training session at the Three Rivers FS Plant on North Cascade Road on Monday, May 16th. The instructors for the class were Lt. Jeff Bohle of the Epworth Fire Department and Asst. Chief Steve Kafer from the Key West Fire Department, both employees of Three Rivers FS. About 45 members participated in the training which included a short review of responding to LP Gas emergencies and instruction on the characteristics of liquefied petroleum. Firefighters were then able to conduct hands on evolutions using hose lines to gain access to and shut down tank valves on a simulated burning LP tank. Firefighters were able to rotate through the training positions and participate on all aspects of the drill. All three departments have placed new firefighters on their rosters in the past few years and this type of hands on training is essential to fire fighter training and keeping firefighters safe. The departments wish to thank Three Rivers FS for providing this training session.
