The winter months have been a busy time for members of the Epworth Fire Department. Currently the EFD has 4 members in the Fire Fighter 1 class and 1 member in the EMT program. Other active members stay busy every week between monthly fire drill and EMS nights on alternating Mondays. Below is some more information of our winter trainings.

Scene Preservation for EMS- Special thanks to Clayton Schuneman of the Johnson County Medical Examiners office. Clayton spoke with members of the Epworth Fire department along with guests from other neighboring departments as well. Clayton gave great incite to EMS members on scene safety and protecting the evidence of a scene.

EMT training- In addition to our weekly meetings in the winter Kyle Knutson hosted a EMT only training night for EFD members. This 4 hour training was a night that was dedicated to EMT's and their skills in the field. EMT's were trained how to better support paramedics on calls and were given a refresher on many EMT skills. Thanks to Kyle for hosting the informative class.

Equipment and Ventilation training- EFD members were able to utilize the county training tower for our monthly drill. EFD members were given a refresher course on all the tools used in firefighting techniques and used a training trailer on how to properly ventilate a fire.

Special thanks to all the dedicated members that participated in the training. Here are some photos.
