The Epworth Community Volunteer Firemen were awarded a 2020 Dubuque Racing Association Grant that allowed for the purchase of a new mobile computer terminal device for emergency calls.

The new computer allows the department to communicate with the Dubuque County 911 Communications Center in order to receive pertinent patient information. This ensures privacy of patient information and reduces our radio traffic. It also allows information to be transferred to our patient care reports and allows the volunteers to start on paperwork while returning from the hospital.

The DRA provided a $2,500.00 grant to purchase the computer system covered the majority of the cost and the remaining project costs were provided through gifts and memorials to the Epworth Community Volunteer Firemen. Including this grant, the Dubuque Racing Association has awarded over $125,200.00 to the Epworth Community Volunteer Firemen over the past twenty-four years.

The Epworth Community Volunteer Firemen is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation comprised of the volunteers who respond to emergencies in and around the Epworth area and was founded in 1911.
