The Epworth Community Fire Department was awarded a 2017 Dubuque Racing Association Grant that allowed for the purchase of firefighting equipment that will be used by firefighters at emergency scenes and training.

The essential firefighting equipment, including hoses, adapters and piercing nozzles will help the firefighters safely conduct evolutions on the fire scene. The department previously did not have a structural piercing nozzle and this will increase firefighter safety when dealing with basement fires and fires in other confined spaces. The DRA was instrumental in allowing the proper equipment to be purchased increasing firefighter safety and efficiency.

The $6,355.00 grant provided all of the funds needed to update the department’s equipment. Including this grant the Dubuque Racing Association has awarded over $81,018.00 to the Epworth Community Fire Department over the past fourteen years.

The Epworth Community Fire Department is the 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation that along with the City of Epworth Mayor and Council, governs the fire department and contracts with local townships and cities to provide fire and EMS service.
