At approximately 12:10 AM on Friday, September 02, 2016, Epworth Ambulance and Fire responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Highway 20. The incident occurred just east of Epworth near mile marker 305. A car was westbound on HWY 20 just after midnight when the driver swerved to avoid a deer. The car then went off the road and down into the ditch. The accident was discovered by a Dubuque County Sheriffs Deputy who noticed the gravel on the highway and then investigated finding the two occupants still in the vehicle, down a steep embankment. The driver and passenger were transported to a Unity Point - Finley for evaluation of injuries. The names of the patients will not be released by the fire department.
