The Epworth Fire Department was summoned by Dubuque County 911 Center for a reported explosion and fire in a field south of the Super 20 Mobile Home Park located at 14674 North Cascade Road, Dubuque. Firefighters were just finishing up from a structure fire in the area on West Ridge Lane off of North Cascade Road and verified the explosions. Mutual aid was received from Centralia-Peosta Fire and Key West Fire Department. Access to the scene was difficult and only reachable by four wheel drive fire trucks and ATVs. Once accessed the firefighters found a 2009 John Deere Combine, a John Deere 8 wheel tractor and a large grain bin fully engulfed. The fires were allowed to burn out and firefighters contained the fire from spreading to the standing corn on each side of the farm vehicles. The cause of the fire is not known at this point but is not considered to be suspicious. The equipment was used for harvesting all day today and the occupants completed working around 8:45 p.m. Damage is estimated at $750,000 for all three vehicles. The Dubuque County Sheriffs Office also assisted in locating the vehicles and assisted at the scene. Firefighters remained on the scene until midnight.

Thank you to our mutual aid partners for assisting with the fires this evening.
