The Epworth Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 14755 North Cascade Road, Ferring's Mobile Home Park, Lot #12 on Wednesday, November 24th, 2011. The fire was noticed by a neighbor who placed a 911 call to the Dubuque County Emergency Communications Center at 2343 hours. Upon arrival firefighters found a fully engulfed shed with fire extending to the nearby two trailers. The mobile home was vacant at the time of the fire. Mutual Aid was received from the Centralia-Peosta, Asbury and Key West Fire Departments for tankers. Firefighters remained on the scene for over two hours. The shed was totally destroyed, one mobile home suffered major damage and the other had minor damage. No dollar estimate is available. The Epworth Fire Department was also assisted at the scene by the Dubuque County Sheriff's Office, the Iowa State Patrol and Maquoketa Valley REC. The fire appears to have started in the storage shed and has been ruled suspicious. The fire will be under investigation by the Dubuque County Sheriff's Office and the Epworth Fire Department.
